Canandaigua Lake

DID YOU KNOW?

When the Seneca tribe inhabited the area, they would
burn tobacco around the shores of the lake to give
thanks for a plentiful harvest. This tradition continues
today as the “Ring of Fire,” a celebration during which
residents light fires and flares around the lake.

The Canandaigua Lady, a replica paddleboat from the
1800s, continues the tradition of the once-flourishing
steam and paddleboat passenger services on the lake.
